Cask & Coast Premium California Bourbon Wins Gold Medal at Prestigious 2023 New York World Wine & Spirits Competition

San Diego Bourbon Awarded Its Third Gold Medal of the Year

San Diego, CA – September 12, 2023 – Cask & Coast Spirits Co. is thrilled to announce that its inaugural batch of premium reserve Cabernet cask-finished California bourbon has been awarded a gold medal at the illustrious New York World Wine & Spirits Competition, which featured thousands of spirits from around the globe. It is Cask & Coast’s third consecutive gold medal in a spirits competition.

“We are so honored to receive a coveted gold medal at the New York World Wine & Spirits Competition,” said co-founder and CEO Mark Kersey. “Richard and I made a bourbon that we wanted to drink and it’s gratifying to see our work validated in one of the most respected and influential spirits competitions on the planet. Winning gold in New York is a tremendous achievement, especially for a young company like us.”

Cask & Coast’s four-grain bourbon is distilled and matured in the Midwest in new American oak barrels then blended in San Diego before being finished for a year in California Cabernet Sauvignon & Cabernet Franc wine casks from local vineyards. The bourbon is aged for a total of 5 years and is bottled at a hearty 102 proof.

Cask & Coast also earned gold medals this year at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and the San Diego International Wine & Spirits Challenge. After selling out the inaugural batch this summer, Batch 2 was just bottled and is now available for retail sale.
